Veda2.0 Released!

Inserting new commodity in process output
#1
Dear forum,

My model contains plenty of different processes using coal (ELCCOA) in input and I want to assign to each of these processes the quantity of fly ashes (ELCPFA) resulting from coal combustion. Rather than manually implement ELCPFA in COMM-OUT of each process, I would like to tell the model that any process consuming coal (ELCCOA) to produce electricity (ELCC) now has ELCPFA in output, and the rate is 0.05 MtPFA/PJcoal.

I proceeded as follows:
1. Create a TFM_TOPINS to declare the new commodity in output of each process consuming ELCCOA and generating ELCC (in a first attempt)
2. Then specify the quantity of ELCPFA as function of ELCCOA through the FLO_EFF attribute
Please see the screenshot attached.

When synchronizing, VEDA warns me that no records has been generating from the TFM_INS table. Moreover, when I browse ELCPFA, I cannot see it as an output of the wanted processes. So none of the two tables are working as desired.

Is this the right way to go? Do you have any idea why this is not working?

Lucas

Works here. Of course, ELCPFA first has to be defined as a commodity in the model.  I tested by adding a new commodity in SysSettings, then imported SysSettings, and then the scenario with a TFM_TOPINS and TFM_INS.  It all worked fine. Both the topology and FLO_EFF entries for the new commodity were defined as expected.

Okay I'm really dazzled then. I initially defined ELCPFA in the SubRES file and moved it to the SysSettings as you did. Still not working. I have a warning message from the the synchronizer (see attachment). Seems that it doesn't recognize the process filters... but I am certain I have declared such processes with ELCCOA as input and ELCC as output...

Ahh..., you are using a Subres Transformation file. Try using a regular scenario for the TFM_TOPINS + TFM_INS.

Okay thank you it worked!

Beware of using a TOPINS in SubRES Transformation files then... I read several times in the forum that this tag can be declared in SubRES Transformation files

Well yes, I would expect it to work also in Subres Transformation file, if the technologies to be "transformed" are indeed defined in that Subres.

But your Subres appeared to be Subres_INM2, which sounds like industrial non-metallic minerals (INM) to me.
If the power plants using ELCCOA are not defined in this INM2 Subres, you should not expect it working there...
