Excel formulas in parametric scenarios
#1
Dear Community and VEDA Developers,

I've encountered an issue while implementing parametric scenarios. It seems to me that VEDA cannot read values from this Excel formula:

=TOCOL(IFS(SEQUENCE(;COUNTA('DR-EL_Values'!$B:$B)-2);OFFSET('DR-EL_Values'!$A$3;0;0;COUNTA('DR-EL_Values'!$A:$A)-2);1;FALSE))

However, it works fine when I convert the formula to plain numbers. Has anyone else experienced this, or am I missing something?

I've attached the scenario file for reference
.xlsx   Scen_Par-DRvsEL.xlsx (Size: 23.87 KB / Downloads: 5) . I'm using VEDA Version-4.0.1.0 on Windows 11.

Supporting dynamic formulas like this would be very helpful.

Best regards,
Till

Yes I experience it with your file. Probably the TOCOL function is not yet supported by the Excel file tool VEDA uses.

In the meantime, maybe consider a workaround without TOCOL? For example, the attached appears to work for me.
So, unless I am missing something, the issue here is not about dynamic formulas, but just the TOCOL function.

Hi both,

thanks for your prompt responses!

I can confirm that it is the TOCOL function that causes the issue. Your workaround, Antti, works well for me, thanks.

Dear Till,

We were able to reproduce the issue—thank you for sharing the sample file.

The problem seems to be related to the third-party Excel reading library used by Veda. A ticket has been raised on their website/forum, and they have acknowledged the issue.

We will keep you updated on any further developments and the resolution.

We have been informed that our ticket has been resolved by the third-party Excel reading library used by VEDA and that the the fix/enhancement will be included in their upcoming release that they plan to release in the first half of June 2025. So we will try to include it in VEDA as soon as possible from then, provided it works as it is supposed to.
