How to use EFF, CEFF, consumpiton and production
#1
Dear all,
I hope someone can explain the differences among EFF, CEFF, CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION. I am confused now. Attached is an example, and I find CEFF and consumption didn't work as I expected.

These are alternate ways of specifying transformation characteristics of processes.

EFF = [Flow of Primary commodity group (PCG)] / [Flow of shadow Primary Group]

CEFF has a commodity index in addition, which is used when EFF is commodity-based. Dual fuel power plants, for example.

Note that these attributes have no influence on commodity shares (input or output); you must use FLO_SHAR in addition for that purpose.

Consumption and Production relate input/output commodities (respectively) to the process activity. You must make sure that all attributes are designed around unit flow of the PCG.

Unlike EFF/CEFF, these could influence shares. If I specified input = .4 for c1 and .6 for c2, it would mean that unit activity will force flows of .4 and .6 for c1 and c2, implicitly fixing their share.

In general, one should use either EFF/CEFF/Shares OR Consumption/Production.

Thumbs Up Thank you for your answer! And now, I have another question, if the efficiency of a technology will increase as time goes by, how should I define EFF?

Just like you have treated Share - specify values for future years.

Thank you very much! As you suggested, CEFF can work now, but I still don't know how to use consumption, production and share-O. Can you show me a simple example?
