One more observation: I was doing some more attempts calling VEDA_FE from the cmd line and then one thing happened: when I closed VEDA and opened it again, the case that I was working disappeared and I had to select it again. The problem is that this way, I cannot call VEDA_FE from the cmd line, since the "FE Navigator" is empty. I don't know what happened and what to do here. Hope the question is clear.

As shown in the attached figure, GAMS Source Code Folder is not empty in the case manager. I'm not sure if this is the selection box you were talking about.
Anyway, I've provisionally solved the issue by creating a batch that first executes VEDA_FE.exe SS (consequently creating the .dd file) and then calls VTRUN.CMD to solve the problem.

Hello Amit and Vikrant,
I find extremely useful the ability to be able to run VEDA_FE from the command line, without opening the interface . I use it currently to be able to synchronise and solve different model instances with different timeslice setups (with a pretty primitive trick based on renaming, from the controlling script of VEDA, as .txt those files that should not be imported during the synchronisation of a given instance, because they define parameters on different timeslices than the instance that I would like to synchronise and solve).
I was wondering if in a future release of VEDA_FE we will be able to pass as a command line argument the name of the case that we would like to solve as well.
Many thanks,
Vangelis

I am glad that this functionality is proving to be useful.
So far, we have the following requests:
1. to specify the model path
2. to trigger a start from scratch (Olex we should discuss; I am also using GIT and don't need to start from scratch)
3. Selecting the files to be Synced (not sure about this one)
4. Selecting a Case name (that is predefined)
Anything else? Maybe, (optionally) specifying a different case name for the run? Meaning, you load "Case-1", but call it "Case-n" when it actually solves, as you might be updating a scenario file with different kinds of assumptions with some automated process?
(10-09-2018, 09:24 PM)Vikrant Wrote: Is this return after you save this case with unchecking the check box?
Yes. I uncheck the box, save the case (in the case manager, as I guess you said), close VEDA_FE and run VEDA_FE.exe SS. After synchronization, I can see that the box "create dd only" is checked (and GAMS Source Code Folder is not empty), even I have saved the case before.
In relation to further improvements in this functionality (which indeed has been very useful for me), I agree with requests 1,2 and 4. Request 3 would be nice, but it can be solved by creating a new path with only the files desired and then pointing to this path (that is, request 1 solves the third one).
It seems to me that specifying a different case name for the run would be very useful, as also as selecting the scenarios to be considered in TIMES' execution (as one would do in the case manager).
I was wondering if there are new developments in the new VEDA_FE Release 4.5.815 regarding the control of VEDA_FE from the command line, i.e. without opening the interface. It would be helpful if you can post a summary of the different options that we can use with the new version when calling VEDA_FE from a script.
Many thanks,
Vangelis

Edit Reason: 4. To be able to select also a predefined batch job
)
Dear Amit,
I think that the following could be useful:
1. To be able to specify the model path (src and wrk dirs)
2. To be able to select the case to run
3. To be able to choose to perform a SYNC from scratch or a simple SYNC before solving the selected case
4. To be able to select also a predefined batch job
Many thanks,
Vangelis
