CPLEX dual objective limit

Hi everyone,

I have a 31 region model. Every time I run the model for the base year, CPLEX does not find a solution (infeasible model). For this case, it says that the solution was aborted “due to a dual objective limit” (Probably related to the dual solution).

But, when I deselect one of the regions, doesn’t matter which one, Veda (CPLEX) finds a solution.

I think this is not the case, once I have seen other veda models quite bigger than mine. Anyway, are there any upper limit for the number of region in the model? Any suggestion on how to overcome it?

No, there is no upper limit for the number of regions, neither in VEDA/TIMES, nor in Cplex.

Most likely you have a modeling bug somewhere, possibly related to trade balances/constraints, but unfortunately finding such modeling problems can be tedious in big models...
You could try isolating the problem, for example by fixing some regions to a previous good solution, or by relaxing some trade/supply constraints for any single added region that seems to trigger the infeasibliity.
