Hi,
I recently had a single model run time out after 13 hours. I'm not sure if there was an issue with the model or if the problem was just too big, since all of my previous runs took only an hour.
But that got me thinking about speeding up the solution. I just checked my Task Manager on my Windows box and it says CPU Usage is only 25%. I was wondering if there's a way to use all of my processor cores. The Resource Manager says Gams is using 2 threads and CPU usage is between 13 and 25% depending on which part of the solution is working. I have an i7 processor running windows 7 with 4 cores and 8 threads and 8 GB ram.
Is there any way to use more of the CPU cores and threads to solve the model? Is there a setting to get GAMS/CPLEX or whatever to use more of the computing power?
