I have a quick question for EU-TIMES.

I've observed that the CAP2ACT value for ELC* is generally set to 31.54, which is fine. However, I'm curious about something:

Why is the CAP2ACT for the process that inputs ELC and outputs COMELC set at 31.54, and why is the value for the process that inputs COMELC and outputs Light also set at 31.54? Does this mean that the GW is being multiplied by 31.54 twice?

PRC_CAPACT defines the unit conversion from the capacity unit to the activity unit. As far as I know, in the JRC-EU model the common unit for energy activities is PJ.  If the capacity unit is GW, then we should have PRC_CAPACT = 31.536.

If the activity unit is PJ and the capacity unit is GW, then one should define PRC_CAPACT = 31.536.

I have not seen such a process in the JRC-EU-TIMES model. But again, if the activity unit is PJ and the capacity unit is GW, then one should indeed define PRC_CAPACT = 31.536. That could be the case if the process is input-normalized. The activity unit might also be luminous energy (multiple of lumen second) and the capacity unit could then be luminous power (multiple of lumen), and then one could have the same conversion factor. But I have not seen either case in the JRC-EU-TIMES model.

The conversion of the amount of capacity (from the capacity unit to the activity unit), is done by multiplying the amount of capacity by PRC_CAPACT, without squaring it.
