Your problem is that you've downloaded a current (latest) version of GAMS but your maintenance has expired ~1.5yrs ago.

You can either download an older version of GAMS before the license expiration date (see https://www.gams.com/download-old/) or contact me (gary.a.goldstein@gmail.com) about updating your GAMS system.

Thanks Gary. I changed to an earlier version of GAMS, and I get a worse situation. The error message below:

When I went back to the former GAMS again, this new error message remains, and I can no longer reproduce the past situation.
Please help. Many thanks.

Hi James,

You dont have the GAMS system Path properly established.

I suggest you uninstall GAMS and carefully follow this procedure. Then you may need to restart your computer.

1. Copy your GAMSLICE, attached, someplace on your computer.
2. Head to http://www.gams.com/download/ and select the Windows download option for either Win-64/32, as appropriate [or in your case https://www.gams.com/download-old/, which I believe you've already done]
3. Run Setup by clicking on it in Windows Explorer
a) Check “Use advanced installation mode” at the bottom of the GAMS Setup form.
b) Let GAMS get installed into the default folder (\GAMS\\.
c) Check the Add GAMS directory to PATH environment variable.
d) Have the GAMSLICE.TXT copied from wherever it currently resides.

James,

Means the Path is not set.

If the Advanced feature during installation didnt take (did you request it set the Path?) then you'll need trying setting it manually.

4. After the installation is complete you need to adjust the system Path by means going to the Windows Start menu then Windows Control Panel/System/Advanced/Environment/Edit Path, adding to the end of the current path the location of the GAMS system (;c:\Program Files\GAMSxx.x where xx.x is the GAMS version (if you accepted the default location)). Check out the GAMS Show Me on the http://www.kanors.com/vedasupport/Index.aspx site to see a "how to" animation of these steps.
