Veda2.0 Released!

Publicly Available Databases?
#1
Dear Forum,

I am a current PhD student and I am waiting for EPA to release VEDA-TIMES compatible databases (they are changing the format from MARKAL to VEDA TIMES). In the mean time I have finished the 12 demos. I would like to continue to learn and perform practice analysis on a real database.

Could anyone share or recommend a good database to work on in the mean time as I learn? I have heard that there is a TIMES model for California or Ireland? Is there a list somewhere of the available TIMES databases for different countries?

Thank you,

Mike

Although there are lots of TIMES models being used, open source model databases are not so widely available. I guess many institutes that have made considerable investments into model development are not so keen to making their databases publicly available, and in many cases the models may also contain confidential/proprietary data.

But the UK-TIMES model is a notable example of an open source model:

For requesting access to specific model databases, you can of course contact the modelers (e.g. UCC for their Irish TIMES, UC Davis for their Californian TIMES).
